Social Media from a Human Perspective
Hello there!
Thank you for stopping by my “About” page.
I am sure you have questions for me. So here are some answers…
“How do I pronounce your name?”
Cendrine Marrouat is pronounced “san-drEEn mar-wah”. The “T” at the end is optional.
“Where and when were you born?”
In Toulouse, a beautiful city in southern France.
Oh, and I am a Generation-X baby, Gemini, and Earth Horse. That should tell you how old I am. ;-)
“What did you study at university?”
I am a former English major and hold a bachelor’s degree in English-to-French translation.

(Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors, with Khalil Gibran and Alphonse de Lamartine.)
I’m bilingual.
“Where do you live now?”
Winnipeg, Canada. I came here in 2003. This city feels like family to me.
“Why did you decide to work in social media?”
In my 11-year career, I have done pretty much everything involving writing: teaching, translations, poetry, theatre, spoken word, reviews, blogging, content curation, and journalism. I self-published six collections of poems, released a CD, and wrote two plays that I hope to direct someday.
Those different occupations have provided me with a lot of insights into the freelancing world and what it means to have a business. I understand the challenges and struggles entrepreneurs go through on a daily basis because they have been part of my life too.
To me, social media is about the human journey. This need to connect with others is part of the human fabric. We want to feel that we belong somewhere, that our voice is heard, that we matter.
My decision to work in social media stemmed from that idea. I have dedicated the last five years to helping small business owners and entrepreneurs like you to leverage the power of online relationships and become strong and trusted brands.
You truly deserve to be successful. I would be happy to guide you towards making that goal a reality.
“How long have you been a blogger?”
I opened my first blog at the beginning of 2005. Social Media Slant is my latest one. I started it in April 2013.
“Are you working on something right now?”
Taking a break, actually. I have just released my second social media ebook, titled The Little Big eBook on Social Media Audiences: Build Yours, Keep It, and Win.
With that said, I am always full of ideas, so you can expect some great news from me soon! ;-)
