People keep asking me how I made the GIFs for some of my articles and latest video (see above). My secret weapon is called LICEcap.

Created by Cockos Incorporated, LICEcap is a free application for Windows and OSX that allows you to capture an area of your desktop and save it directly in the .GIF or .LCF format.

To use the tool, you must first install it on your computer. And then, the recording process is very straightforward.

As you can see from the example above, you can move the screen capture frame while recording, pause and restart recording, insert text, and change the recording frame rate.
