And to top it off, Social Media Slant passed the 100,000 view mark on Wednesday! It’s quite the awesome timing, isn’t it?
Today, I would like to share another extract from The Little Big eBook on Social Media Audiences: Build Yours, Keep It, and Win, as well as more news about the release.
New extract from the eBook
13. Do Not Fear Your Uniqueness
Have you ever been to Montréal? I was there two years ago and really like this city. It has an uncanny ability to fit right into the North American landscape.
The area where I usually spend most of my time is Old Montréal, which is the historic city centre. You will find me roaming its streets, taking pictures, and “inhaling” the lovely atmosphere.
One thing I had never done before, though, was spend some time inside the Notre-Dame Basilica. The church boasts a beautiful façade that had always intrigued me.
Notre-Dame Basilica is not the most beautiful religious building I have ever seen. However, the clever use of colors and lighting within its walls makes it stand out from the rest. What you see there is totally unexpected. You can check out some pictures here.
What I experienced in the church was akin to what I experience when I listen to a beautiful song or whenever I witness the actions of a business owner who goes beyond the call of duty to wow their audience.
One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is to say and promise the exact same things. They are all “great” and “awesome.” They all “deliver fantastic results.” And that is exactly why their business does not take off.
A successful entrepreneur does not just create and sell products. They are skillful storytellers who know exactly the kind of “lighting” and “colors” they need to add to the mix. Lighting and colors are what I call “personality”. You need it if you want to stand out in your niche.
When I think of brands that have mastered the concept of “personality,” one name comes to mind: Starbucks. This renowned company in the restaurant industry has stayed true to its goals and keeps delivering on its promise. Its slogan? “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.” If you look at the company’s Facebook Page, you will notice that the stories and pictures shared there are an exact reflection of that idea. They are also an exact reflection of what you will find in the coffee shops.
Starbucks bring people together because it knows exactly what it stands for.
We live in a very competitive era. Every niche has hundreds and sometimes thousands of businesses vying for the top spots. The brands that make the news are run by people who are not afraid of showing who they are.
When you let your unique voice shine, you make yourself approachable to your audience. And ultimately, that is what people want to see. They want to see a human being in action.

A third awesome advance review for the eBook!
Here is a snippet of what I received today in my Inbox:
I was privileged to receive an advanced copy of Cendrine Marrouat’s “The Little Big eBook on Social Media Audiences: Build Yours, Keep It, and Win” and after reading it, it will now be placed on my “must-read” book list for anyone starting a business or starting social media marketing for their business.
The book is very easy to read, much like her previous e-book, “The Little Big eBook on Blogging: 40 Traffic Generation Tips.” Her newest offering takes the reader step-by-step through the social media strategy process, giving case studies along the way to support her statements. She touches on everything from figuring out who your audience is to what platforms to use to defining your voice.
You can read Social Media Consultant, Mandy Edwards’ entire advance review here.
