Welcome to this second monthly roundup of my favorite social media articles from around the web! I hope you will enjoy the list I selected for you.
“Which Social Media Platforms Are Right For Your Small Business?” (Staples) – A great infographic for small business owners who are just getting started with social media: purpose of each major social network, most important age groups per platform, and more.
“Which Social Media Platforms Are Right For Your Small Business?” (Small Business Trends) – Looking for inspiration for your next marketing campaign? Chris Cloutier has found some of the best examples out there. You will probably recognize a few of them. My favorite remains Body Form. You?
“How Top Brands Maintain Healthy Twitter Feeds” (Sprout Social) – To me, each mini case study in this article draws attention to what is missing in the strategy of many brands. “Inspiration is all around — take a look at some of the other brands you’re following for engagement ideas,” says Jennifer Beese.
“Social Media Engagement is Not a Strategy” (Scoop.it Blog) – Great find by Guillaume Decugis! I agree with Mark Schaefer: A strategy focused on engagement without any other goal will always fail.
“25 ideas for your social media network strategy“ (Grow) – Looking for ways to leverage Twitter more effectively? The answer is in this article. It is very basic, but that is actually all you need.
“Google+ University – A Complete Curriculum for Business“ (The Social Media Hat) – Mike Allton has written extensively on Google+. And now he has gathered all the links in one article to make it easier for us to find what we are looking for. You will love it!
“What to Learn from the Man Who Managed Reddit’s Community of Millions” (First Round Review) – Being a social media manager is about caring for people, while refusing to be a slave to data. An interesting and thorough feature article on Erik Martin.
“6 Reasons Content Curation Is Your Elephant” (Curagami) – This post by Martin Smith sums up why I curate content. I especially like this quote: “Our advice is leave content creation to the mob. Focus on content curation instead to make more money faster, to build bigger and more engaged tribes and keep your job.” A must-read to understand the benefits of content curation!
“Your First 9 SEO Tasks” (Plus Your Business) – Whether you are a beginner or advanced blogger, search engine optimization may elude or even scare you. If so, I believe you will find Eric Enge’s article really useful. My favorite quote: “Focus on creating non-commercial content that differentiates you from your competition. This is actually what the search engines want you to do as well.”
“IKEA create a website within Instagram to showcase their new collection” (Muddywall) – IKEA really understands how Instagram works…
