Find short and catchy names for your products with Wordoid.com

Wordoid.com

I don’t know about you, but I have often wondered how some brands come up with unique and attractive names for their products. Good examples would be Scoop.it, Paper.li, Listly, and Swayy.

As I’m interested in getting my own domain name for my third blog, I started looking for some fun resources to make that process easier. And that is how I found WORDOID.

WORDOID is a free service that helps you create short and catchy names for pretty much anything. It is very easy to use.

Just visit http://wordoid.com, then:

  • Select the language of your choice
  • Enter the keyword you want to use (up to 10 letters, no space) in the “Pattern” box
  • Choose the maximum length and quality of your wordoid
  • Click the “Create Wordoid” button.

WORDOID also displays availability information for domain names in .com or .net. Red means “taken” and green stands for “available”.

Great find Cendrine! I’m looking for a name for my blog, too, so this may just be the help I need.

As to our name Paper.li: ”-li” is a diminutive ending in Swiss German to represent something of a smaller form or a term of endearment. So culturally it was a great fit for us.

.Li is used in other languages as well for different purposes, and another cool example I found ( and I like to ponder) is in the Russian language: .li denotes the past tense plural form of a word. I thought that was cool.

I wish I had this tool when selecting a domain for my new blog.

Oh, well I can always use it the next time :D (If I do plan to start and maintain a second blog, which is highly unlikely). But, it is good to have a tool, just in case. I do appreciate you sharing this :)

Thank you, Cendrine :D Hope you had a good weekend!
