Sophie, my Shepherd / Lab mix dog
The above picture dates back to November 2012. I took it after the first major snowfall of the season. Winnipeg, my city, had landed 25 cm.
I love walking in fresh snow, especially the crisp sound footsteps make in it.
The other day, while snapping a few macros of icicles in my backyard, that photo suddenly popped up in my mind. I recalled very vividly the fun Sophie had had on that particular day.
The playfulness I captured reminds me of the excitement we experience when we discover something new. Actually, Sophie reminds me a lot of the supporters I have had all these years. She is loyal and caring. And she shows it in ways that always surprise me.
There are valuable lessons to learn from the animals in our lives. Paying attention to their reactions to voices and moods, in particular, will allow you to understand human beings and business better. I know it has worked for me.
At the end of the day, it boils down to the simplest of things: emotions. It is about how you can help your followers connect with your journey through your work.
Sometimes, all it takes is a walk in the snow…
